Our principal and staff
Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.
Welcome from our principal
“Warami. I’m delighted to welcome you to Leura Public School.
Established in 1906 and rebuilt after the devasting bushfires during 1957, Leura Public School has proudly served our community. Nestled in the heart of the Blue Mountains on Dharug and Gundungurra land, we honour and acknowledge the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples as the Traditional Custodians of this beautiful Country. Our stunning natural surroundings not only provide an inspiring backdrop for learning but also strengthen our ongoing commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability.
At Leura Public School, students are at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our core values — respect, responsibility, and resilience — we strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where students learn, grow, and belong at Leura Public School. We take pride in our family-like atmosphere and welcoming community, where cultural diversity is celebrated and where meaningful relationships are central to who we are.
Leura Public School is more than a place of learning — it is a vibrant, inclusive community where every child is supported to grow, achieve, and thrive. I warmly invite you to discover our school and share in the pride we feel as we continue a long-standing tradition of excellence in public education.”
Mrs May Ptolemy, Principal
