Literacy and Numeracy
At Leura Public School, we embrace Literacy and Numeracy in all aspects of our school life. We provide a stimulating learning environment through creative and engaging activities, which cater for the diversity of students at our school.
Students have opportunities to participate in a variety of literacy activities including public speaking (encompassing multicultural aspects), oral reading, poetry and creative writing competitions, debating and involvement in the Indigenous Literacy Foundation's "Great Book Swap".
In Numeracy, students are provided with concrete materials and hands on activities to enhance their mathematical thinking skills. This enables them to become confident problem solvers in real life. Technology is also used to assist this learning through programs such as Mathletics.
