Looking After Our Environment

Students in garden

Learning about Environmental Education at Leura Public School is interesting and hands on, and the children know how important it is to take care of their future.  From recycling paper, composting food scraps, turning off lights and not littering helps them to understand the impact that they have on the Earth. All classes take responsibility for keeping our school clean and healthy and protecting our three endangered, local creatures; the Giant Burrowing Frog, The Giant Dragonfly and the Blue Mountains Water Skink.  Students are able to enjoy the thriving Kitchen Garden, the flower beds, Indigenous Gardens and the many native plants. Celebrating national environmental days of importance further embeds the need for them to look after their environment.
